This is the story of how Lord Hanuman was cursed by sages to turn into a black stone after accidentally disrupting their ritual. The curse was later partially lifted, with the condition that sincere devotion could restore him to his original form.
Characters in the story:
Hanuman: Hanuman is a revered deity in Hinduism, known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama and his incredible strength, symbolizing courage, loyalty, and selflessness.
One day, Hanuman was happily wandering through a forest. He was full of energy, as always, and loved jumping and swinging from tree to tree. Nearby, a group of sages were performing a sacred ritual. They were focused and serious, offering prayers and performing a fire ceremony to please the gods.
As Hanuman swung through the trees, he unknowingly disturbed their ritual. The trees shook, leaves and fruits fell, and even the fire they were using in their ceremony got affected. The sages became annoyed and thought Hanuman was intentionally being mischievous.
The sages, angry at what they thought was disrespect, decided to teach Hanuman a lesson. Using their powers, they cursed him to turn into a black stone. Instantly, Hanuman’s lively body turned stiff and solid like a rock, and he couldn’t move anymore.
After some time, the sages calmed down and realized they had made a mistake. Hanuman was not trying to harm them—he was just being his playful self. Feeling guilty, they wanted to undo the curse, but they could only partially lift it. They said, “Hanuman will stay in the form of a black stone until someone worships him with true devotion. When a devotee prays to him with pure love and faith, he will return to his original form.”
