This is a story of love and sacrifice between Radha and Krishna, where Krishna, unable to bear Radha's passing, breaks his flute and never plays an instrument again.

Characters in the story:

Lord Krishna: Lord Krishna is one of the most popular and revered deities in Hinduism. He is worshiped as the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu and is known for his divine teachings in the Bhagavad Gita and for his role in the epic Mahabharata.

Radha: Radha, also called Radhika and Radharani, is a Hindu goddess and the chief consort of the god Krishna. She is the goddess of love, tenderness, compassion, and devotion. She is the feminine counterpart and internal potency (hladini shakti) of Krishna.

There are many versions of this story, and some experts even suggest it might not have happened at all. Nevertheless, the people from Barsana, Vrindavan, and Mathura often recount this tale of love, devotion, sacrifice, and everlasting love.

After completing all her duties, Radha went to meet Krishna, believing it would be their final encounter. Upon arriving in Dwarka, she discovered that Krishna had married Rukmini and Satyabhama. Surprisingly, she didn’t feel saddened by this news.

When Krishna laid eyes on Radha, he was overwhelmed with joy. They spent a significant amount of time conversing with each other. However, nobody in Dwarka recognized Radha. Thus, she requested Krishna to allow her to serve in the palace as a Devika.

Radha spent her days in the palace, yet she yearned for the spiritual connection with Krishna that she once felt. Consequently, she resolved to leave the palace in pursuit of a deeper spiritual relationship with him.

Feeling utterly lonely and despondent in her final days, Radha wandered aimlessly, unsure of her destination. Krishna appeared before her one last time. They reminisced about their bond, friendship, and love, reliving each cherished memory. When Krishna inquired about her final wish, Radha expressed her desire to hear the same enchanting melody that had captivated her before.

Krishna’s divine flute possessed such power that even the gods and inhabitants of the palace dared not interrupt them. For days and nights, Krishna played the flute incessantly until Radha merged divinely into him.

Although he knew their love was eternal, Krishna couldn’t bear Radha’s departure. He ceased playing his flute, symbolizing the end of their love, and decided to renounce it altogether. With a single motion, Krishna shattered the flute and discarded it into the bushes. Henceforth, until his demise, Krishna never played the flute or any other instrument again.

Thus, with Radha’s departure, Krishna’s divine music ceased, signifying the conclusion of their earthly bond. Nevertheless, their love transcended mortal realms, forever intertwined in the hearts of those who cherish their tale.
