A tale of wit, strength, and devotion, where Hanuman outsmarts the shadow-snatching demoness Simhika on his daring journey to Lanka.
Characters in the story:
Hanuman: Hanuman is a revered deity in Hinduism, known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama and his incredible strength, symbolizing courage, loyalty, and selflessness.
Simhika: In the Ramayana, Simhika is a rakshasi who battles Hanuman. She has the power to catch her victims by their shadows.

The sky stretched endlessly before Hanuman, painted in golden hues as he soared toward Lanka. Below him, the vast ocean churned like a restless beast, its waves crashing against the world’s edge. The wind howled in his ears, but his heart remained steady, filled with unwavering devotion to Lord Rama. Every leap carried him closer to his sacred mission—to find Sita and bring hope back to Ayodhya.
But fate had other plans.
The Shadow Snatcher Emerges
Without warning, Hanuman felt an unnatural force dragging him downward, like invisible chains yanking at his very being. His flight faltered. He glanced below, expecting to see turbulent waters, but instead, he found something far more sinister—his shadow frozen on the ocean’s surface, held captive by an unseen grip.
A chilling laugh echoed through the air. From the depths of the sea, a monstrous figure emerged, her grotesque form towering above the waves. Jagged teeth gleamed like broken daggers, and her glowing red eyes burned with hunger.
“Simhika!” Hanuman muttered, recognizing the demoness from tales of old. A creature of dark sorcery, she possessed a fearsome ability—she could seize and hold her prey by trapping their shadow.
Simhika’s lips curled into a wicked grin as she tightened her grip on his spectral outline. Hanuman’s limbs stiffened. He felt himself being dragged toward her gaping maw.
“Struggle all you want, Vanara!” she hissed, her voice rolling like thunder. “Your shadow belongs to me, and soon, so will your flesh!”
A Trick of Divine Wit
But Hanuman was no ordinary being—he was the son of Vayu, the wind god, and no chains, visible or unseen, could bind his spirit. Rather than panic, he flashed a mischievous grin.
In a blink, his massive form shrunk to the size of a tiny firefly. Simhika’s predatory eyes widened in confusion. Her claws gripped his shadow, yet Hanuman himself had vanished!
“Looking for me?” a voice chirped playfully.
The demoness snarled and turned her head just in time to see Hanuman—no larger than a mouse—perched on the tip of her claw. Fury twisted her features.
With a deafening roar, she lunged, her monstrous jaws stretching wide enough to swallow the sky itself.
But Hanuman was ready.
Just as she snapped her fangs shut, he expanded in an instant—his body swelling to a size greater than the clouds, muscles surging with divine might. The sky trembled at his transformation.
Simhika barely had time to gasp before Hanuman’s colossal hands tore through her flesh. A mighty crack split the air as he ripped her apart, his strength shattering the dark magic that bound him. The demoness let out a final, piercing screech before her broken form crashed into the sea, swallowed whole by the waves she once ruled.
Back to the Mission
Hanuman hovered for a moment, shaking the saltwater from his fur. A deep, rumbling chuckle escaped him.
“A shadow cannot hold one who walks in the light!” he declared, his voice carrying across the endless ocean.
With a final glance at the vanquished demoness, he turned his gaze toward the distant shores of Lanka. Sita awaited. His mission burned brighter than ever.
With an earth-shattering leap, Hanuman surged forward once more, his path unhindered. Neither demon nor darkness could stop him.
